BYLAWS FOR CORRESPONDING MEMBERSHIP (International)

Japan Shoulder Society




Objective
1. In order to achieve the objectives of Japan Shoulder Society (JSS) as set forth in Article 3 of the Articles of the Society from the standpoint of international exchange, the Society shall appoint Corresponding Members, from among overseas medical doctors and researchers specializing in shoulder surgery and making a contribution to the field of shoulder surgery, who shall perform the important role of exchanging information with the Society as foreign Honorary Members as set forth in Article 5, paragraph 2 of the Articles of the Society and in Article 3 of the Membership Bylaws.

Qualifications
2. A person intending to become a Corresponding Member shall satisfy the following requirements:
  1. Must be a medical doctor or researcher specializing in shoulder surgery who is able to contribute to international exchange with JSS;
  2. Must have notable achievements in research and/or produced notable written works in the field of shoulder surgery; and
  3. Must be recommended by three or more Executive Members of JSS.

3. Executive Members of JSS who recommend a candidate for a Corresponding Member shall submit a recommendation along with a curriculum vitae and achievement list of the candidate to the President of JSS.

4. The International Committee of JSS shall review the achievements and contributions to JSS of the proposed candidate for Corresponding Membership and shall report the results to the President of JSS. The President shall decide whether to appoint the candidate as a Corresponding Member according to the formalities for elections of the Executive Members.

Limitation on Number of Corresponding Members
5. The number of Corresponding Members is not decided.

Rights of Corresponding Members
6. Corresponding Members have the following rights:
  1. The annual membership fee for JSS shall be waived;
  2. Corresponding Members shall receive the Shoulder Joint (the official journal of JSS) and other publications of JSS;
  3. Corresponding Members shall be able to submit papers to the Shoulder Joint and other publications of JSS and apply for presentations at meetings of JSS.

Duties of Corresponding Members
7. Corresponding Members shall have the following duties:
  1. Corresponding Members are requested to promptly notify the secretariat of JSS of any changes in address for correspondence, and other relevant data affecting membership.

Membership Expiration
8. Corresponding Membership shall expire when the Member reaches sixty-five years of age.

Resignation
9. Corresponding Members shall notify the secretariat of JSS when he or she wishes to resign from   JSS.

Expulsion
10. The Board of Executive Members can expel a Corresponding Member from JSS, if the individual blemishes the honor of JSS or acts against the purpose of JSS.

Registration
11. With the approval of the Corresponding Members, the Board of Executive Members shall publish the names of the Corresponding Members in the Shoulder Joint.

Supplement
Any revision of the Bylaws for Corresponding Membership shall be deliberated and approved by the Board of Executive Members.

An Additional Clause
These Bylaws shall come into force on the 2nd of September in 2005.
